For my final art project, I would like to represent my future in two pieces of work.
I would like to create two 11x14 inch or bigger water color pieces. I have decided to work in watercolor because it tends to be the more suggestive of mediums, and it commonly lacks detail as it is used, but it ultimately can be as detailed as you make it. I wanted to represent this in my paintings of my future, because ultimately our futures are just suggestive, but you can make what you want out of it and add as much or as little as you want to create your own future. My first painting I would like to create a city scape, or maybe just a street in a city, because I would like to live in one, one day. I want to do half of this painting as naturalistic as my abilities will allow me to. But either in a section or half of the city, I would like to go back to the concept I was talking about with suggestion. I would like to use distortion and distort some of my city and make it just a suggestion of the city, without major details like the rest. This will show that, my future has not yet come yet and I do not know what it will bring, but I can make my future what I want of it.
The other painting I want to be of a girl, who will portray me. I would like to keep this piece as realistically as I can get it, or idealize it to portray myself as the best I can, to show that I can be whoever I would like to be in this world, and I will always have myself in my future, that will never change.

From Seth-- Morgan, I think the concept is fascinating! I also like how you are already beginning to think about style of representation and the interplay with content. Will you have references? If so, appropriated or you will use your own original photographs? It tends to be necessary to have at least some references with naturalism.
ReplyDeleteFrom Lindsay - I really like this idea, I think having not as much detail in the future one will be really cool since we don't really know all our future will hold. I think this will be really cool!
