Coleman's in progress 2

Here is what I have so far, right now I don't know what to do with the background. I wanted to add color but I only have pens and paint. I thought the paint would ruin it but I'm open for any help Seth. Thank you and let me know what to do!

  1. Keely-I think color would contrast really well with your drawing!

  2. From Seth-- Coleman, part of the criteria for the final project is to use some color. This way you are forced to exploit color theory in some way. Color should be your first priority with this. Second, and perhaps the most important, this needs to have the depth to hold 8-9 hours of work per week for the full four weeks of the project. Can this one drawing do that? You may need to consider expanding this into something beyond your original idea or it needs to become multiple drawings. You need to use design theory to your advantage to hopefully make the most compelling composition of the semester with this project-- Unity and Variety, Emphasis (secondary and tertiary emphasis), balance, figure/ground dynamics, etc.

My suggestion- look through a ton of imagery (advertising, visual art, illustration, etc.) and find a group of very compelling compositions (forget subject matter and just think about composition). Try and integrate some of the things you see are working with your found imagery into your final project.

  3. From Carli -- Don't be afraid to use the color :) I think it's gonna work out great!
